002 Historical Drama – Old
Answered Prayers by
Stephen Wakelam was the lovely, meditative story of Walter (Kenneth Cranham), a
priest setting up a monastery in remote Wales just after the First World
War. He is joined by cagey Francis
(Stuart McQuarrie), a veteran, poacher, and drifter. Francis is adamant he doesn’t want religion,
but all the same, he and Walter get along well. Despite some very serious
subject matter, it’s a rather uplifting story overall, with excellent
performances. It was produced by Janet
Whitaker and also starred John Rowe, Ioan Meredith, and Philip Fox. It was originally from 2004.
